Study Overview

Stage 2 of this study focuses on the recommendation for a new multimodal transportation corridor extending from Highway 400 in the east to the Highway 401/407 ETR interchange area in the west, that includes a 400-series highway, transitway, and potential goods movement priority features.

Latest News

In June 2019 the Minister of Transportation announced that the GTA West Study is resuming. The GTA West Project Team is currently reviewing the work completed prior to study suspension in December 2015 and is aiming to host a Public Information Centre to present the Technically Preferred Route for comment in fall 2019. Until then, responses to comments will be limited while the Project Team remobilizes and updates project information.

The 2015 Focused Analysis Area (2015 FAA) that was in place at the time of suspension of the GTA West Study is back in effect.

The 2015 FAA defines which properties continue to be within an area of interest as the study progresses. View the 2015 FAA (PDF 3 MB). A reduced FAA will be presented at Public Information Centre #2 in Fall 2019.
